Is blogging still a thing?

So there I was, drinking beer and looking at the internet. What ever happened to my blog..... I don't think people even realize that I race mountain bikes for a living. I think people know me as that guy who posts weekly POV videos on YouTube about riding on the edge of some scary cliff in the desert. I am a Vlogger now, do I really need a blog? Well, after a two-year hiatus, I just turned it back on because it made me smile. Let me know what you guys think. Times were simpler then. More projects, more problems. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Red Mtn Rush

All of the red things lining up to deliver one of the better descents in Phoenix. Do not be fooled by imitations, this is #followcamfriday
Alex Petitdemange will always be "Frenchie" to me, despite working hard to earn his US citizenship earlier this year. We have been racing and riding together for many years, and it is always a pleasure trying to hold Alex's wheel.

It takes a certain mindset to turn consistent lap times on the track. Of all the people I have been fortunate to chase on my bicycle, Alex is without a doubt, the most consistent and dialed of them all. It's humbling to watch him drive the track, and ride the trails. The dedication to precision is unmatched and not easily replicated.

We hit this one perfectly with just a bit of moisture left in the ground from recent rains. Moisture in the desert is always special. I don't recall things being so colorful in Phoenix in the past. Clear skies and tacky gravel are the perfect combo.

This was my first time riding at Hawes, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of trail. This place has always had the "xc" vibe going, but I genuinely enjoyed the descents. Red Mountain Rush isn't over technical, but the pitch is perfect for maintaining speed and flow from top to bottom. This track will teach you how to corner properly. Turns for days.

If your tires don't look like this before you replace them, you might not be trying hard enough. This guy only had a few more laps left in it before complete detonation. Much like the tires on your bicycle, if you wear out the side knobs before the center tread, you are cornering properly. If you center lugs wear away before your side knobs, you might want to check your technique.

Always close the gate. While we didn't see any animals on this ride, rest assured that they saw us. They are out there, just waiting to escape.

The desert truly is special this time of year. Keep it locked right here for more hot action from the land of cactus in the coming weeks.
