Is blogging still a thing?

So there I was, drinking beer and looking at the internet. What ever happened to my blog..... I don't think people even realize that I race mountain bikes for a living. I think people know me as that guy who posts weekly POV videos on YouTube about riding on the edge of some scary cliff in the desert. I am a Vlogger now, do I really need a blog? Well, after a two-year hiatus, I just turned it back on because it made me smile. Let me know what you guys think. Times were simpler then. More projects, more problems. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Jankiest Trail in Junction?

Flow-trails are overrated . #followcamfriday trying to make sense of the jank with Noah Sears on Moore Fun in Fruita, Colorado.
Moore Fun. So much fun apparently, that the locals have nicknamed this trail "Less Fun".... Well, I personally love this sort of thing and prefer to be challenged when I am riding my bicycle. There are sections of this trail that I have not cleaned. That is a good thing. I need less pats on the back and more punches in the face, generally speaking. Keeps me humble. And motivated.

Before we get too much further, a small back story. We filmed this a couple of weeks ago and Noah was having a "rest week" leading into one of this biggest races of the season, the Grand Junction Offroad. When I asked Noah to go and ride Moore Fun, he reluctantly obliged. If I am being honest, there isn't a worse trail to ride during "taper week". This thing is an absolute battle, up and down, in either direction. Perfect. Do work son.

I guess everyone has a different definition of "resting". Although a "dirt nap" is somewhat restful, I can think of better ways to catch some shut-eye. There is a lesson to be learned here friends. Never take it easy.... Full gas all the way. As it turns out, the slightest bit of hesitation or lack of commitment results in ground-snuggles. Always full gas.

Those views tho.
We rode this as an out and back. I can't decide which way I prefer to ride this trail. You really need to experience this one in both directions to truly appreciate the jank. I mean, there is always 18 Road if rocks aren't your thing. As for me, I'll be out here getting my face-punches in while I can.

Have you seen my penny? Lost it back there...
Noah trying desperately to rest, again. I don't think I have ever seen Mr. Sears fall down. Bad day to leave the knee warmers at home.

So next time you find yourself if Fruita, challenge yourself to make sense of this awkward, fist-fight, of a trail. It truly is special. Not every ride needs to be a feel-good situation. Sometimes you just need to earn some well deserved face-punches. Live for it.

I'll choose a gnarled up janky trail over flow trail 100/100 times. Flow trails bore me. It's like the difference between taking an escalator and climbing a tree.
