Is blogging still a thing?

So there I was, drinking beer and looking at the internet. What ever happened to my blog..... I don't think people even realize that I race mountain bikes for a living. I think people know me as that guy who posts weekly POV videos on YouTube about riding on the edge of some scary cliff in the desert. I am a Vlogger now, do I really need a blog? Well, after a two-year hiatus, I just turned it back on because it made me smile. Let me know what you guys think. Times were simpler then. More projects, more problems. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Herkenham DH

You know the day is maximized when you finish in the dark. #followcamfriday making the most of it with Alex Petitdemange in Sedona.
Herkenham is one of the better descents in Sedona. As much as I truly love Sedona and the riding this place holds, on thing that is definitely lacking are sustained DH sections. So much so that we call this sort of thing "sedona dh". Which is basically code for sprint your brains out the entire way down the hill and things will work out just fine. It's a bit of a bummer that Ebikes are not allowed on these trails because the lack of steep terrain is the perfect place for that sort of thing. I don't mind working for it, but trust me when I tell you that we are working for every inch.

I always leave Sedona fitter than when I arrived. Riding "sedona DH" all day and chasing my talented friends around usually gives me a better workout than I could ever get on my own. I am certainly not complaining about pedaling but these flatter trails are ten times more fun if you are cry breathing and barely keeping things together. When you start riding ragged and making silly mistakes, you know you are in the right place. Bonus points if you drool a little bit.

It's good to have friends that don't feel like riding sometimes. We pedaled so hard on the descent that we would have never make it back to the house before dark. Thanks Kyle. Alex wanted to ride more, but I was being lazy.

The afternoon light in Sedona just hits different. The rock is red, Alex's pants are red, and the sky is on fire. The perfect balance of visual stimulation. Sedona is still stunning, no matter how much time I spent here. I am trying to never lose sight of that fact and be thankful for my time here. It truly is special. Smashing rocks and gasping for breath till the very last second.

Now that my fitness is peaking, it is almost time to head back to Colorado for some skiing and winter driving activities. The seasonal change keeps my mind fresh and makes me appreciate these times even more.
