Is blogging still a thing?

So there I was, drinking beer and looking at the internet. What ever happened to my blog..... I don't think people even realize that I race mountain bikes for a living. I think people know me as that guy who posts weekly POV videos on YouTube about riding on the edge of some scary cliff in the desert. I am a Vlogger now, do I really need a blog? Well, after a two-year hiatus, I just turned it back on because it made me smile. Let me know what you guys think. Times were simpler then. More projects, more problems. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Hall In The Snow

Winter got you down? Buck up little camper. #followcamfriday from snowy Hall Ranch in Lyons, Colorado.
This has been an interesting winter, I must say. The lack of snow in the high country has kept me on the hunt for singletrack. I do miss skiing, normally I spend as much time as possible in the snow, taking a proper vacation from the mountain bike. But this winter has been different.

I am sitting in Moab as I type these words and it is well above 60 degrees. 60 degrees in February.... Well, I won't complain, I'll just ride my bike I guess. Could be worse. I never try to fight the seasons very hard. When it snows, I ski, when it's warm, I ride. No sense in trying too hard to do the wrong sport for the given conditions. Fortunately, we live in a pretty rad area that makes these activities possible, year round.

Austin grew up in Summit County, right down the street from me actually. I coached him when he was just a wee lad and I am always pleased to see that he still has passion for two-wheeled activities. Austin is one of the fastest American downhillers, in addition to shredding on the trail bike and moto. Nicest guy you will ever meet. Always a pleasure to chase him around.

Don't worry Boulder hippies, no trail was harmed in the making of this video. The soil at Hall Ranch is decomposing granite. Read: Kitty Litter. There is no clay in sight and the DG deals with moisture remarkable well. The grip is arguably better with a dusting of snow than when it hasn't rained in weeks out here. Hero traction.

The infamous rock garden on Lower Bittterbrush is full of line choice and technical challenges. Too bad Shawn Neer wasn't here to jump the entire section for us. Next time.

At this time, next week, I will be in New Zealand. Good thing I rode a few times in the last 2 months. Right back to full on summer. Thanks for nothing winter, see you next year hopefully.

That's good roost.
