Is blogging still a thing?

So there I was, drinking beer and looking at the internet. What ever happened to my blog..... I don't think people even realize that I race mountain bikes for a living. I think people know me as that guy who posts weekly POV videos on YouTube about riding on the edge of some scary cliff in the desert. I am a Vlogger now, do I really need a blog? Well, after a two-year hiatus, I just turned it back on because it made me smile. Let me know what you guys think. Times were simpler then. More projects, more problems. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Another Front Range Classic

I am an only child but if I had sisters, I would want three of them. Ticking off more Front Range classics with James Weingarten. Jump everything always.
Just when I think I have ridden everything worth riding on the Front Range, a diamond emerges from the rough. Somehow, neither James or myself had ever had the pleasure of riding the Sisters Trail or Dedisse. We got a hot tip in the carpark from my friend and previous #followcamfriday talent, Matt Fisher. Well, Matt was right, this was definitely worth a rip.

In case you were wondering, all that we are actually doing while we are riding is searching for jumps. Jumps can take many forms. A stick. A root. A rock. A board with a brick under it. It honestly doesn't matter much, just about anything can be smashed into hard enough to launch oneself into the air. Just ride around until you see something abrupt, sprint at it and pull back. Great success. Repeat.

Alderfer Three Sisters is littered with meatball rocks. So many in fact that I was somehow craving Italian food in the middle of this ride. And red wine. When you see a bulbous protrusion, you must send it. Those are the rules or there will be no supper tonight. This is basically a giant game of Hungry Hungry Hippo. I'm starving.

There will always be something special about riding trails for the first time. You only get one "first go" so you had better make the most of it. The mental chess involved in making sense of this one was highly entertaining. Jank chess is the best kind of chess.

James never misses a detail. This micro wall ride is absolutely mandatory for holding any semblance of speed around this 180 switchback. How he picks this shit up on the fly is beyond me. Just stick your wheels on the wall while slowing down for the turn but with enough speed to stick. Jank chess checkmate.

The meatballs here have been scattered. I bet they were on the trail at one point, but someone probably thought they were doing everyone a favor by moving them out of the way. Never move the meatballs! They are where they are for a reason. You should never move them. It changes the flavor of the dish completely.

So what have we learned? Meatballs are delicious. Jank chess is stimulating. Always jump everything. There are still trails on the Front Country left to explore. Stay hungry friends.
