Is blogging still a thing?

So there I was, drinking beer and looking at the internet. What ever happened to my blog..... I don't think people even realize that I race mountain bikes for a living. I think people know me as that guy who posts weekly POV videos on YouTube about riding on the edge of some scary cliff in the desert. I am a Vlogger now, do I really need a blog? Well, after a two-year hiatus, I just turned it back on because it made me smile. Let me know what you guys think. Times were simpler then. More projects, more problems. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

A Trail in Moab you Haven't Ridden

#followcamfriday sampling Moab's newest trail, Eagle Eye with the Mayor, Kyle Mears
It had been far too long since I had spent time in one of my favorite places to ride. A trip to Moab was in order. Desert season isn't really desert season without a trip to see Kyle Mears.

In my absence, a new trail has emerged that parallels LPS. Thanks Tyson, Moab Trail Mix, love your work. Although this is a "blue", if you follow Kyle Mears on this one, you will see things occur that will scare and humble you. I truly have missed hanging with Mr. Mears. Riding with Kyle is like witnessing a different sport. Mortals have no hope of holding his wheel.

Sometimes Kyle runs out of tallent and takes a dirt nap. But do not cry for Kyle, you should feel bad for the ground. When Kyle crashes, the ground shakes. Rabbits poke out of their holes to see what has happened. Lizards run and hide. Everything pauses for a brief moment before we return to the chaos of full speed. I needed a break anyway.

Eagle Eye starts at the top of the normal LPS drop off and descends to the midpoint of the old Porcupine Climb. From there you get to descend this classic back to Sand Flats Road. This makes for an proper DH run. My bike was making noises that I had not heard in some time. If there is one thing that I can count on while riding with Kyle, its that my bike will sound like a broken washing machine whilst trying to hold his wheel.

Eagle Eye is marked with purple paint. I think someone has a sense of humor. All I see is eggplants everywhere. The section pictured above is basically a giant sandstone pump track. There are some curbs in the track, but we won't worry too much about those. Just keep pushing and pulling and everything will work out somehow.

You can just hear the sinister laugh coming out of Kyle here, knowing full well what we just did to our bikes and got away with.  I am not entirely sure how the tires are still holding air honestly. Bikes sure are capable nowadays. Aren't we fortunate.

Thanks Moab, thanks Kyle, I have missed both of you in my life. My bike hasn't missed either of you, but that is not what matters. The bike doesn't have a say in how I mistreat it. Suck it up, carbon space bike. You will live to fight another day.
